The Kernels open their fourth home stand of the season starting Tuesday, May 12th against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - here's a rundown of what you can expect each day:
May 12-15 vs. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers
The Kernels open a four game home stand against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:35 pm. It's a 98.1 KHAK Two Dollar Tuesday where regular hot dogs, 12 oz. draft beer, bottles of soda, peanuts and nachos are just $2 all game long. The Kernels welcome special guests from Erskine Elementary and Johnson School of the Arts as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Cedar Rapids. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 12th as it's our first Player Magnet Night. The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a free player magnet of former Cedar Rapids Reds pitcher Trevor Hoffman. The magnets are sponsored by Xquisite Limo, Mix 96.5 FM and WMT AM 600. The Kernels welcome students, faculty and family members from College Community Schools to their night at the stadium. First pitch between the Kernels and Timber Rattlers is set for 6:35 pm.
Bring your thirst to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday, May 14th as it's a 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday. Twelve ounce draft beer is just $1.50 all game long and the Kernels welcome our special guests from Westfield and Emerson Elementary schools to their night at the stadium. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the Kernels and Timber Rattlers play at 6:35 pm.
May the force be with you on Friday, May 15th as its Star Wars night at the stadium. Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character as the Kernels celebrate the epic six movie sci-fi classic with fun all game long. After the game, enjoy an out-of-this-world post-game fireworks show, presented by Bank of the West. The Kernels welcome students from Cleveland and Wright Elementary schools to their annual night at the stadium as well as the Girl Scouts, who will be camping out in the outfield after the game. It's also a Z 102.9 Progressive Beer Friday where 16 oz. draft beer starts at $1 when the gates open at 5:30 pm and goes up a dollar each hour until reaching full price. First pitch between the Kernels and Wisconsin is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
