KENT, WA- The Prince George Cougars (18-22-2-1) suffered their first regulation loss in February on Friday, falling 7-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds (24-11-4-1) at the accesso ShoWare Center.
Koehn Ziemmer and Ryker Singer scored in regulation for the Cougars. Ty Young suffered the loss in goal, stopping 41 shots.
Prince George is 1-3-1-0 through five games on their U.S. Division road trip. They conclude their trip on Saturday against the Everett Silvertips (31-7-2-2).
FIRST PERIOD
Lukas Svejkovsky scored twice, and Leon Okonkwo Prada added another, as Seattle led 3-0 after 20 minutes. Svejkovsky opened the scoring four minutes into the game. Okonkwo Prada put Seattle up 2-0 midway through the first and Svejkovsky got his second of the period with less than two minutes left. The Thunderbirds outshot Prince George 15-6.
SECOND PERIOD
Reid Schaefer scored 30 seconds into the second to put the T-Birds up 4-0. Koehn Ziemmer pulled a goal back for the Cougars, as he scored his 19th goal of the season to make it 4-1 at 19:14.
THIRD PERIOD
Seattle came out and scored three-straight to start the third to go up 7-1. Jared Davidson, Lucas Ciona, and Matthew Rempe all found the back of the net for the Thunderbirds. Ryker Singer scored his fifth goal of the season to make it 7-2 with 52 seconds left in regulation. Seattle outshot Prince George 20-3 in the final frame.
NOTES
Hudson Thornton had his five-game point streak come to an end on Friday. He had six points (2g-4a) in his previous five games played. Ziemmer now has goals in back-to-back games. Ryker Singer's goal was his first since December 17th against Kamloops. Jonny Hooker marked his return to the lineup with an assist. Defenceman Jonas Brøndberg, (lower body) did not play Friday.
