Evansville Otters News Release

EVANSVILLE, Indiana - The Normal CornBelters never trailed on Sunday afternoon as they closed out a series against the Evansville Otters in an 11-2 victory.

All-Star first baseman Steven Alexander handed Normal the lead with a two-run single against Evansville's Kyle Eastham. The CornBelters then added another run in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning.

Down 6-0, Evansville's designated hitter Mike Durant started to bring the Otters back with a two-run homer. Unfortunately for Evansville, that would be their only runs of the day as Normal scored the final five runs in the victory.

The Normal CornBelters win the series and improve to 27-24 on the year. The Evansville Otters are currently 15-36.

Matthew Mossey (1-0) earns the win for Normal in his debut with the team. The righty allowed two runs in just five innings. Kyle Eastham (0-3), Evansville's starting pitcher, takes the loss after giving up six runs (four earned) in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

The Otters begin a six game road trip on Monday night at the Florence Freedom. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT with the middle game of the series on Tuesday and the final contest on Wednesday.
