The Freedom fell 10-5 on Sunday in Gateway as the Grizzlies took the rubber match of the three-game series. Florence will return home to start a season-high nine-game homestand Monday night against Evansville.

The Freedom started a two-out rally in the fourth against Grizzlies starter Ryan Juarez. John Malloy walked and Junior Arrojo was hit by a pitch. Jon Smith walked to load the bases and Juan Valdes delivered a two-run single to left to give the Freedom a 2-0 lead and knock Juarez out of the game after 3 2/3 innings.

Gateway responded in the bottom of the frame against Freedom starter Alec Lewis. With two on and one out, Brandon Peters hit a grounder to first that resulted in an error on Drew Rundle and scored Logan Parker. Nick Farnsworth then belted a three-run homer, his second in as many games, to make it 4-2.

The Grizzlies added a run in the fifth on a sac fly by Charlie Lisk. Lewis (1-2) was removed after 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on two hits, walked four and struck out five in his first Freedom start.

Junior Arrojo hit a one-out single in the sixth and Jon Smith followed with his first career home run, a two-run blast, to pull the Freedom within a run at 5-4.

In the bottom of the inning, Landon Hernandez hit a three-run homer off of Freedom reliever Matt Carr to push the lead to 8-4.

In the seventh, Logan Parker and Charlie Lisk hit back-to-back doubles to make it a 9-4 lead.

The Freedom scored a run in the eighth on Chris Curley's RBI single to cut the deficit to 9-5. Gateway added a run in the bottom of the inning on a sac fly by Kent Gerst.

The win went to Ryan Cabral (1-1), who gave up two runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings.

The homestand kicks off with "Are You Ready for Some Football - night on Monday. There will be appearances by local football starts and a post-game concert by former Bengals tight end Ben Utecht. Jeff Frost will make the start for Florence.
