
CornBelters Place Five on All-Star Squad

The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have placed five players on the West Division squad for next week's Frontier League All-Star Game.
First baseman Steve Alexander and center fielder Alvaro Ramirez have been named to the West starting lineup. Alexander leads the Frontier League with 13 home runs, and is currently batting .272 and leading the CornBelters with 33 RBI. Ramirez is tied for the league lead in doubles with 15, and he has also driven in 25 runs and leads the Belters in batting average at .331.
Other CornBelters selected to the event include shortstop Tyler Keeble (.300 batting average, 18 RBI), right fielder Asif Shah (.322, 8 HR, 25 RBI) and pitcher Ryan Sheldon (5-3, 2.89 ERA, two complete-game shutouts).
The managers for each squad will be those whose teams lead the divisions after Wednesday's games. Each manager will be allowed to name three more players to his squad.
The 2011 Frontier League All-Star Game will be hosted by the Lake Erie Crushers at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, Ohio. A Fan Fest and Hitting Derby are scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, and the game will be on Wednesday, July 13. More information is available at www.lakeeriecrushers.com.
