Monday, July 4 - 7:05 p.m. CT

Silver Cross Field - Joliet, IL

Game #41 - Home Game #20 (22-18, 13-6)

Last Time Out.

The Joliet Slammers (22-18) scored two runs in the seventh inning to earn their 12th comeback victory of the season and third straight victory overall as they knocked off the Normal CornBelters (22-19) by a final score of 2-1 Sunday night. Starter Ryne Miller was outstanding in his Slammer debut as he went six innings, giving up only one unearned run. The CornBelters opened the scoring in the second inning, courtesy of a two singles, a walk, and a Slammers error. The score stood at 1-0 until the seventh inning, when the Slammers hitters came through in the clutch. With two away, Leeper and Netzel hit back-to-back RBI doubles to give the Slammers a 2-1 lead. Despite some ninth inning drama that included a base hit and two walks, Ryan Quigley closed out the victory for his 12th save of the season. Joliet goes for the series sweep in tonight's 7:05 finale.

For Starters.

Jake Renshaw is coming off a strong outing where he picked up his team-leading fourth win of the season in a 5-4 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners. He went seven innings, scattering six hits and giving up only two runs in the game. Renshaw was a 10th round draft pick out of Ventura College by the Chicago Cubs in 2006. He was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 26th round in 2004 but did not sign. Renshaw spent two years with the Cubs organization and pitched two years at the high-A level with the Orioles organization. The 25-year old right hander put up excellent numbers last year in the Golden Baseball league as he posted a 2.39 ERA in 16 appearances.

Hey now you're an all-star.

The Slammers have four players headed to the 2011 Frontier League All-Star Game in Avon, Ohio, which will take place on July 13. Three of the players have local connections. Oak Lawn native Erik Lis will start for the East Division at first base. The slugger has a team-high 8 HR and 32 RBI on the season. New Lenox native Josh Flores will start in the outfield. He has a team-leading 15 stolen bases and has save numerous runs with his glove and his arm. Joliet native Ryan Quigley leads the league in saves with 12 and is the Slammers' lone pitcher on the All-Star roster. Last but not least, rookie outfielder Bobby Leeper made the team as a reserve thanks in large part to his team-leading .921 OPS.

On the rise.

The Slammers are a season-high four games over.500. In addition, they've matched their longest winning streak of the year at three games.

Sweeeep'

Joliet is going for their third sweep of the year; both their previous sweeps also came at home.

Seventh inning success.

Joliet scored two more runs in the 7th yesterday, bringing their season total to an inning-high 29.

Stealing is legal.

New Lenox native Josh Flores has more stolen bases (15) than the rest of the active Slammers combined (13).

Leeper leading the way.

Rookie Bobby Leeper leads the Slammers in batting average (.318), runs scored (28), triples (4), walks (19), and OPS (.921).

Save me.

The Slammers bullpen is 14 for 14 in save opportunities this year. Joliet native Ryan Quigley leads the league in saves with 12.
