
Frontier League All-Star Teams Announced

Lake Erie Crushers News Release
Avon, Oh- Voting by managers, general managers, coaching staffs, and local media for the 2011 Frontier League All-Star Game has concluded with the first 24 members of the East and West squads announced.
The Lake Erie Crushers have three players on the East Division team to represent their home turf. Starting at third base for the East Division, Andrew Davis will represent the Crushers in the starting line-up. Davis is tied for third in the Frontier League for doubles with 14. This will be his third consecutive year representing the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League All Star Game.
Also on the roster from the Crushers are catcher Joel Collins and designated hitter Nick Mahin. Collins is batting .298 with 34 hits on the season, while Mahin is leading the team in batting average at .311.
The three Crushers are joined by Erik Lis of the Joliet Slammers, Mike Torres of the Windy City ThunderBolts, and Jake Egisti of the Rockford RiverHawks around the infield. Egisti is pacing the Frontier League with his .420 batting average while Torres ranks seventh at .333. Lis is tied for sixth with eight home runs. They will be backed-up by, Scott Lawson of the Washington Wild Things, Chris Wade of the Windy City ThunderBolts and Luis Parache of the Rockford Riverhawks.
The starting East outfield includes J.T. Hall and Matt Brown of the Traverse City Beach Bums and Josh Flores of the Joliet Slammers, with the Slammers' Bobby Leeper the reserve outfielder. Hall's 11 home runs are tied for second overall while Brown is fourth with a .358 batting average and Flores ranks fifth with 14 stolen bases.
Behind the plate, Windy City's Zack Aakhus makes his third consecutive All-Star start. Aakhus won the FL batting title in 2010 and is currently second with a .360 average. He is joined by Collins and Washington's Blake Ochoa. Devin Shepherd of the ThunderBolts is the designated hitter.
The West Division will be the visitors in the contest and features a starting infield of Steve Alexander of the Normal CornBelters, Will Block of the Southern Illinois Miners, Joe Spiers of the Evansville Otters, and Chris McClendeon of the River City Rascals. Alexander currently leads the Frontier League with 13 home runs, Block leads with 15 doubles and ranks third with a .359 batting average, and Spiers leads with 24 stolen bases. Back-up infielders are Logan Parker of the Gateway Grizzlies, Chris Curley of the Florence Freedom, Tyler Keeble of the Normal CornBelters, and Nate Hall of the Southern Illinois Miners.
The starting West outfield is Cole Miles of the Florence Freedom, Stephen Holdren of the River City Rascals, and Alvaro Ramirez of the Normal CornBelters, with Asif Shah of the CornBelters as a reserve. Miles' .341 batting average ranks fifth in the Frontier League with his 21 stolen bases placing him second. Holdren is third with 11 home runs and tied for second with 38 RBI while Ramirez is tied for seventh with a .333 batting average.
River City's Danny Sawyer will start behind the plate for the West Division, with Sean Coughlin of Southern Illinois and Justin Holloway of Florence also on the team. Charlie Lisk of the Gateway Grizzlies, the 2010 Frontier League Most Valuable Player, is the designated hitter.
The field managers who lead their divisions following play on Wednesday will work the All-Star Game and they will choose the final three players on each squad to complete the rosters.
