Bakersfield Condors News Release
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The Las Vegas Wranglers (4-6-0-2, 10pts) battled their way to a 5-2 victory over the Bakersfield Condors (5-8-1-1, 12pts) Friday night at Rabobank Arena. The Condors had been unbeaten in regulation in their last three games (2-0-0-1).
The physical play started early, with Condors D Tyson Gimblett dropping the mitts with Wranglers LW Adam Huxley in the opening minute of the game. Neither team could light the lamp, but plenty of hits and a few good scoring chances were had on each side. Shots were 11-11 through 20 minutes.
Vegas seized the momentum in the second period with three goals in the middle frame. Just seconds after a power play expired they took the lead, with RW Sean Wiles sneaking a backhander under G Scott Greenham for the 1-0 lead at 6:08. Bakersfield rebounded just a couple minutes later when RW Tyler Brenner snapped home his fifth of the season from the right circle. But Las Vegas regained the lead at 11:47, and extended it with a 5-on-3 goal late in the period.
Bakersfield scored 3:51 into the third, with C Parker Stanfield redirecting home a centering feed from LW Evan Trupp to once again make it a one-goal game. At 12:34, C Eric Lampe notched his second of the game for the Wranglers to make it 4-2 and put it out of reach. Las Vegas added an empty netter in the waning seconds to account for the final score.
