Condors Receive Goaltender from Manchester

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have assigned goaltender Ryan Munce to the Bakersfield Condors.

Munce, 20, will enter his first professional season after three seasons with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League. The Mississauga, Ont., native posted a 2.98 goals against average during his major junior career and a .912 save percentage. Munce was ranked 4th among OHL goaltenders last season with 55 starts. During the 2003-04 season, he posted a win-loss record of 28- 21-4 and helped Sarnia to the OHL Playoffs.

In 2001, Munce was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 3rd round (82nd overall) of the NHL Draft. He backstopped Team Canada in 2003 of the World Junior Under-18 Championships and had a record of 4-1-1 in 6 games with a 1.83 goals against average.

Last year, the Condors welcomed the services of two Kings prospects. Goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji and forward Connor James were assigned to Bakersfield from the Los Angeles organization and helped bring Bakersfield to its first ECHL playoff appearance.

"We're very happy to keep the Kings on our side," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "We're very excited to have him here and we'll do the best we can to get Ryan ready for the next level."

Condors Open House and Family Day will take place at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center this Sunday, October 9th from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Admission is free with the donation of two canned food items for the Salvation Army Food Pantry. Fans are welcome to skate with the team from 2:00 - 3:00pm. Fans can bring their own skates or rent them at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center for $3

The Bakersfield Condors season opens in 18 days on October 22nd at home against the Victoria Salmon Kings.
