Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team traded center Pierre-Luc Sleigher to the San Diego Gulls for the rights to forwards Sean O'Connor and Brett Draney.
Sean O'Connor, 23, is currently in training camp with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. O'Connor was drafted in the third round (#82 overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound right wing has spent time with three different ECHL teams over his career, including the Jackson Bandits, Augusta Lynx, and San Diego Gulls. In 114 career games in the ECHL, O'Connor tallied 35 goals and 25 assists for 60 career points. O'Connor also racked up 370 penalty minutes over that span. In the past two seasons, the Victoria, BC native played 51 games in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage and the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Last season, O'Connor scored 20 goals and added 10 assists for 30 points in 46 games played. O'Connor's 142 penalty minutes finished second on the team.
The Dallas Stars drafted Brett Draney in the sixth round (#186 overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Draney spent most of last season with the Idaho Steelheads before a trade sent him to finish the season in San Diego. In 59 games last season, Draney scored 18 goals and added 32 assists for a career-high 50 points. The fourth-year pro is a veteran of 127 ECHL games, scoring 41 goals and 55 assists over that span. Draney played a key role in the Idaho Steelheads championship season in 2004. The 24-year old left wing also played in 56 career AHL games with the Utah Grizzlies. Draney is currently signed to play in England.
Pierre-Luc Sleigher never suited up for Las Vegas. He was acquired in a trade with the Toledo Storm in exchange for center Jeff Attard on September 7th, 2005.
