Condors Lose To Grizzlies in Utah 7-4

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The Bakersfield Condors (34-28-4-1, 73pts) failed to get closer to securing a playoff berth, losing to the Utah Grizzlies (31-28-3-5, 70pts) 7-4 at the E-Center on Wednesday night. LW Ryan Kinasewich led the Grizzlies with two goals and an assist.

F Tom May opened the scoring, 1:47 into the game to give Utah a 1-0 lead. F Andrew Ianiero tied the game at one, 3:34 into the first period on his 15th goal of the season. Kinasewich and LW A.J. Perry on the power play scored at 6:07 and 8:17 of the opening frame, respectively, to make it a 3-1 lead for the Grizzlies. Utah led in shots 13-8 after 20 minutes.

The Condors cut it to a 3-2 lead on a goal by RW Erick Lizon at 2:33 of the second period, but Utah tallied the next four goals, including three in the second period. Kinasewich tallied his second of the game with 9:35 left, followed by RW Vlady Nikiforov with 8:37 remaining and LW Lance Galbraith with 5:31 left. G Timo Pielmeier was replaced by G Jeremie Dupont, following Utah's fourth goal. Utah led 6-2 after 40 minutes and 21-19 in shots.

The Grizzlies made it 7-2 at 3:56 of the third period on May's second goal of the game. F Stephane Goulet scored twice, including once on a 5-on-3 power play to cut it to 7-4, but that's as close as the Condors would get. Bakersfield had an opportunity late in the game after being rewarded a five-minute power, but G Mikko Koskinen shut the door to earn his third win of the season.

Notes from the Nest: G Jeremie Dupont, playing in his first professional game, earned the loss after surrendering the game-winning goal. Dupont became the team-record 50th player to play in game for the Condors this season... C Adam Naglich earned two assists in the game... The Condors out-shot the Grizzlies 35-28... Bakersfield went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Utah finished 2-for-4 on the man-advantage... F Stephane Goulet extended his point streak to five games (5g-4a)...Three Stars: 1.
