LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Down to their last out, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp left runners on first and second in their 5-4 loss to the Gwinnett Stripers Friday night at Coolray Field.

Gwinnett (32-41) came out swinging in the first inning against Jacksonville (31-41) starter Ronald Bolaños (L, 2-8). With one out, Luke Williams walked and stole second. Vaughn Grissom singled, scoring Williams for a 1-0 lead. Grissom went to second on the throw home and a wild pitch moved him up to third. Jesus Aguilar walked and a sac fly from Braden Shewmake, scored Grissom to give the Stripers a 2-0 lead. In the ensuing at-bat, Yolmer Sánchez (4) walloped a two-run home run to give Gwinnett a 4-0 advantage.

The Jumbo Shrimp cut the deficit in half in the top of the second. With two outs, Jake Mangum and CJ Hinojosa knocked back-to-back singles. Xavier Edwards swatted the third consecutive two-out hit, scoring Mangum to make it a three-run game. Jazz Chisholm Jr. followed with the fourth hit of the inning to score Hinojosa to make the score 4-2.

Jacksonville added a run in the top of the fourth. Jordan Groshans and Mangum led off with back-to-back singles. Hinojosa laid down a sac bunt to move up both runners and Groshans scored on a groundout by Edwards to make it a one-run game.

The Stripers added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth. Hoy Park started the inning with a double off new Jumbo Shrimp pitcher George Soriano. Daniel Robertson grounded out and Park went to third and scored on a sac fly from Miroglio to give Gwinnett a 5-3 lead.

Jacksonville added their final run in the top of the seventh. Hinojosa started with a base hit and went to second on a sac bunt from Edwards. Chisholm Jr. grounded out and Hinojosa advanced to third and scored on a base hit from Dane Myers to make it a one-run game, 5-4.

The Jumbo Shrimp threatened in the top of the ninth. With two outs, Chisholm Jr. and Myers reached with consecutive singles. Unfortunately they were left stranded as Gwinnett reliever Grant Holmes recorded the third and final out to escape the danger.
