Vento on fire
For Michael Vento this has been one road trip he wont soon forget. In the first 6 games, Vento is hitting .615 (16-26) with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 12 RBI with 5 walks and 6 runs scored. In the month of June, Vento is hitting .434 in 19 games, raising his batting average from .285 on June 1st to its current mark of .323.
Clippers make late noise
Last night Columbus was trailing by two runs going into its final at-bat, yet made it interesting by scoring a run and had the games tying run at second base. That has been a trend this entire season. 17 times this year Columbus has gone into its final at-bat trailing by 3-runs or less, and have been retired in order only 3 times.
Rare one run loss
Last night the Clippers played their 13th one run game, losing only for the third time this year after winning 7 consecutive one run games.
Half way last year
After last night's game the Clippers have reached the halfway point of the season. At the half way mark last year Columbus was 40-32 and was in 1st place in the IL West.
Clippers enjoy life on the road
To this point of the season the Clippers have enjoyed success on the road. Columbus is 25-15 on the road this season, the best road record in the IL, the best in all of Triple-A, and the 4th best in minor league baseball (Erie .696, Lakeland .676, Akron .631, Columbus .625). Columbus has won 18 of its last 25 road games and has not had a losing road trip this year. Overall the Clippers are hitting .285 on the road and averaging 5.8 runs a game.
Very offensive road trip
After the first 6 games of this 8 game road trip the Clippers offense has been unstoppable. In the 6 games, the Clippers are averaging 7.5 runs a game and 13.3 hits a game. Of the Clippers 49 hits on this trip, 24 have gone for extra-bases.
Clippers leading the way in June
With last night's loss the Clippers are now 14-6 in June which is the best June record in the IL. Syracuse is second with a record of 14-7.
