Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis pitchers Zach Duke, Ian Snell and Mark Corey and outfielder Nate McLouth have all been named to the 2005 International League All-Star Team, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

The top players from the IL will square off with the best from the Pacific Coast League in the 18th Annual Triple-A All-Star game on Wednesday, July 13, at Raley Field in Sacramento, Calif. The contest will be televised live on ESPN2.

Duke, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound left-handed starter, is 11-3 with a 2.87 ERA in 15 starts this season. He leads the league in both victories and innings pitched (100.1) and ranks third in ERA. Duke has posted a 6-1 mark and 1.97 ERA (13 ER in 59.1 IP) over his last eight starts. He was named Topps-International League Player of the Month for May after registering a 4-2 record and 2.23 ERA in six starts during the month. The 22-year-old is rated by Baseball America as Pittsburgh's top prospect.

Snell, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed starter, is 9-2 with a 4.06 ERA in 15 starts this season. He paces the circuit in strikeouts (90) and ties for second in wins. Snell was named Indians Player of the Month for May after posting a 3-0 record and microscopic 0.67 ERA (2 ER in 27 IP) over four starts from May 15-31. On May 15, he hurled the Tribe's first single-pitcher, nine-inning no-hitter since 1974 as Indianapolis blanked Norfolk, 4-0. The 23-year-old has already been honored as the league's Pitcher of the Week on two occasions this year.

Corey, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed closer, is 3-2 with a 2.76 ERA in 29 outings this season. He ties for third in the league in saves (13) and has allowed opponents to hit just .228 (29-for-127). The 30-year-old has helped Indianapolis hold down late cushions as the Indians are 34-2 when leading after seven innings and 35-2 when holding an advantage after eight frames.

McLouth, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound left-handed hitter, is batting .309 (73-for-236) with three home runs and 26 RBI in 69 games this season. The 23-year-old is one of the top base-stealing threats in the league with 23 thefts -- which ranks third -- in 28 attempts. McLouth also leads the Indians with 43 runs scored.

Indianapolis (44-28) has completed its most successful first half of the season since 1988 when the Tribe owned a 47-25 record at the midpoint of the 144-game regular-season slate.
