Toledo Mud Hens News Release
Hens starter and reliever will represent Toledo in Sacramento
Toledo Mud Hen starting pitcher Sean Douglass and relief pitcher Vic Darensbourg have been named to the International League All-Star Team and will be competing against the Pacific Coast League All-Stars in this year's Triple-A All-Star Game in Sacramento, California.
Thus far, Douglass is 9-1 with a 2.87 ERA. He has struck out a team-leading 76 batters on the year while walking 27. Opposing batters are hitting a mere .205 off of Douglass, the best by a Hen starter in that category.
Vic Darensbourg has played the role of set-up man for Toledo and has done a fine job in his first season with the Hens. Having not allowed a run all year, he has an ERA of 0.00 in 23.0 innings of work. He has appeared in a team-leading 32 games and has a record of 2-0, and has collected six saves on the year.
It will be first Triple-A All-Star game for both Douglass and Darensbourg. This Hen duo marks the first time since 1997 that Hen teammates will play on the same All-Star team. The last two players to accomplish this were P Eddie Gaillard and IF Frank Catalanotto. Catalanotto was named the MVP of the game in 1997 (Des Moines, IA).
The 18th annual Triple-A All-Star game will be played on July 13th at Raley Field, home of the back-to-back PCL Champion, Sacramento RiverCats. The game will be broadcast across North America on Sporting News Radio and televised on ESPN2. The game can be heard locally on Sports Radio 1470 AM.
The All-Star teams were chosen by media representatives, club field staffs, and club and league administrators. The International League won last year's game in Pawtucket by the score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Toledo's lone representative, Joe Vitiello smacked a two-run home run, going 1-2 on the day.
