COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired All-Star right wing Marian Gaborik and defensemen Steven Delisle and Blake Partlett from the New York Rangers in exchange for center Derick Brassard, right wing Derek Dorsett, defenseman John Moore and a sixth round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

"Throughout this process our focus was to add a player who could provide a boost to our offense, improve our goal scoring and power play and we identified Marian Gaborik as the player we wanted," said Kekalainen. "He has been an elite goal scorer in this league for many years and we are very excited to have him."

Gaborik, 31, is a three-time All-Star who has registered 333 goals and 333 assists for 666 points, 398 penalty minutes and a +84 plus/minus rating in 757 career NHL games with the Rangers and Minnesota Wild. The 6-1, 204-pound native of Trencin, Slovakia joined the Rangers as a free agent prior to the 2009-10 season. He ranked third in the NHL in goals and 15th in points last season.

Gaborik was Minnesota's first pick, third overall, in the 2000 NHL Draft. He spent eight seasons with the Wild, scoring 30 or more goals six times, including a career-high 42 in 2007-08, and represented the club at the 2003 and 2008 All-Star Games. He is the Wild's all-time leader in goals (219), points (437), power play goals (59), power play points (145) and multi-goal games (41) and ranks third in club history in assists (218) and games played (502).

Delisle, 22, was the Blue Jackets' third pick, 107th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft. He joined the Rangers along with Rick Nash in the July 2012 trade that brought Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Tim Erixon and a first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft to Columbus. The 6-6, 233-pound native of Levise, Quebec has appeared in four games with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (0-2-2, -1 plus/minus rating) and 61 games with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL (4-16-20, +23 rating) this season.
