
Wild Trades for Pominville, Hackett and Larsson Sent to Buffalo

Houston, TX - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Wednesday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired Buffalo Sabres captain Jason Pominville and Buffalo's fourth-round draft pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for goaltender Matt Hackett, forward Johan Larsson and the Wild's 2013 first-round draft pick and a second-round pick in 2014.
Pominville, 30 (11/30/82), has notched 25 points (10-1525) in 37 games with the Sabres this season. He ranks tied for sixth in the NHL with 33 takeaways and 11th in TOI/game amongst NHL forwards at 20:53. The 6-foot, 185-pound native of Repentigny, Que., collected two points (1-12) in the 2012 NHL All-Star Game and has missed a total of nine games (all in 2010-11) since the start of the 2006-07 season.
Pominville collected 73 points (30-4373) in 82 games last season and added four points (1-34) in five playoff contests after being named the Sabres 16th full-time captain on Oct. 6, 2011. He has recorded 456 points (185-271456), including 42 power-play goals, 20 game-winning tallies, a plus-47 rating and 147 penalty minutes (PIM) in 578 regular season contests during nine seasons with Buffalo (2003-2013). Pominville has notched 28 points (12-1628) in 45 career playoff games.
He made his NHL debut on Dec. 27, 2003 at Washington and scored his first career NHL goal against Olaf Kolzig on Nov. 27, 2005 in Washington. Pominville was originally selected by Buffalo in the second round (No. 55 overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Hackett, 23 (3/7/90), was 19-20-3 with a 2.66 GAA and a .907 SV% in 43 games with the Houston Aeros (AHL) this season. He made one start with Minnesota stopping 28-of-33 shots faced in a 5-3 loss at Dallas on March 29. The 6-foot-2, 179-pound native of London, Ont., went 3-6-0 with a 2.37 GAA and .922 SV% in 12 games with the Wild last season. Hackett won his NHL debut on Dec. 6, 2011 at San Jose stopping all 34 shots faced in relief. He was selected by the Wild in the third round (No. 77 overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Larsson, 20 (6/25/92), has collected 37 points (15-2237) including six power-play goals and 38 penalty minutes (PIM) in 62 games with Houston this season. The 6-foot, 198-pound native of Lau, Swe., made his NHL debut against Detroit on Feb. 17. He was selected by Minnesota in the second round (No. 56 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Houston continues a ten-game home stand at Toyota Center on Thursday with San Antonio at 7:05 p.m. The game marks a "Thirsty Thursday", where fans (21 and older) receive a "second drink free coupon" for The Maple Leaf Pub (Smith and Elgin). The first 500 fans to The Maple Leaf Pub after the game will be able to redeem their coupon for their second drink free. Friday night, the Aeros welcome the Chicago Wolves at 7:05 p.m. The game is presented by Houston Eye Associates. The first 3,500 patrons will be given an Aeros magnetic picture frame, compliments of Houston Eye Associates.
