Columbus Assigns Popperle to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (September 28, 2007) -The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltender Tomas Popperle to Syracuse.

Popperle, 22, appeared in 49 games for the Crunch last season going 25-19-4 with a 2.86 goals against average and .905 save percentage. He also played in 2 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets last season posting a 1.35 goals against average and .929 save percentage. A native of Broumov, Czech Republic, Popperle was drafted in the 5th round, 131st overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch open their 14th AHL season on October 5 in Rochester. The club's Quickway Opening Night is set for Saturday, October 13 vs. Hartford.
