Crawford solid in Hogs 2-1 win over Peoria

Loves Park, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs completed its preseason slate on Saturday night and topped the Peoria Rivermen 2-1 in overtime at Carlson Arctic Ice Arena in Loves Park. Troy Brouwer potted the game-winner in overtime and Corey Crawford turned away 27 shots as Rockford won both of its preseason tilts over Peoria.

After a scoreless first period, the Rivermen grabbed the 1-0 lead late in the second period. Winger Francois-Pierre Guenette blasted a marker past Crawford at 16:38. Rockford responded with 21 seconds remaining in the frame with a wrap-around goal from Michael Blunden tying the score 1-1.

Then 1:26 into overtime, Brouwer batted a rebound past Peoria puck-stopper Marek Schwarz to win it for the IceHogs.

Both teams finished the contest with 28 shots on goal and both clubs finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play. The game was Rockford's final tune-up before its first regular season match-up on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Quad City against the Flames.
