Aeros Down Rampage 2-0 In Pre-season Opener

LAREDO, Texas - The Houston Aeros defeated the San Antonio Rampage 2-0 Friday night in their first pre-season game at the Laredo Entertainment Center .

After a scoreless first period, Tyler Hirsh gave the Aeros at 1-0 lead with a five-on-three goal at the 15:18 mark of the second period. Jon Awe and John Adams assisted on the play.

At the 6:18 mark of the third period, the Aeros scored the final goal of the game on a four-on-four tally by Paul Albers.

Aeros' goaltender Barry Brust stopped all 18 shots he faced and the penalty kill stopped all eight power play chances by the Rampage. Houston was 1-13 with the man advantage and out shot San Antonio 39-18.

The teams will face-off again Saturday night at the Ford Arena in Beaumont, Texas for their second and final pre-season match-up, puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
