Colton Yellow Horn Receives First AHL Call-Up
February 7, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced that left winger, Colton Yellow Horn, has been called up to the American Hockey League for the first time in his professional career.
Yellow Horn will leave for the Reign's affiliate the Manchester Monarchs immediately.
The 25-year-old from Brocket, Alberta is the ECHL's leading scorer with 58 points. In 48 games Yellow Horn has scored a league-leading 36 goals and has assisted on 22 more. He currently leads the league with 10 game-winning goals and is second with 11 power-play goals.
After a stellar month in January, Yellow Horn was named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month. He led the Reign to an 11-4-0 record with 20 points (15g, 5a) in 15 games including two hat tricks in the month to give him three on the year.
A quick fan favorite in Ontario, Yellow Horn has broken a number of Reign records including the fastest player to 20 and 30 goals in 32 and 40 games respectively, the most goals in a single season with his 33rd tally on January 26, and the most game-winning goals in a single season with his seventh on December 15.
The most AHL experience Yellow Horn has previously had was skating with the Binghamton Senators in their 2009-10 training camp.
