Busy Three-Game Weekend for Aces Begins Friday
February 7, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces return home for an eventful weekend as they host the Stockton Thunder at Sullivan Arena on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Friday and Saturday night games begin at 7:15pm, and will be highlighted by the "Pets R People 2 Fair," presented by VCA Animal Hospitals. Sunday's game starts at 3:05pm, and is the "Hockey with Heart" game, followed by a Fred Meyer Skate with the Aces. Tickets are on sale now at the Aces office, Sullivan Arena box office, Fred Meyer Locations and online at www.ticketmaster.com. All Aces games can be heard on NewsTalk 103.7FM and 750AM KFQD. For more information, please contact the Aces office at 907.258.ACES, or visit them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey. The Aces would like to wish all of their fans and corporate partners a very safe and happy new year.
On Friday and Saturday night, VCA Animal Hospitals leads a group of nine vendors who will set up inside Sullivan Arena to promote animal needs, and pet health and wellness. On Friday the Aces will conduct an on-ice pet parade of animals, and both Friday and Saturday will feature pet adoptions at the game. VCA Animal Hospitals would like to remind all Alaskan residents that the current animal shelters are filled beyond capacity and that many animals are in need of adopted homes.
Saturday will feature the announcement of the winner of the Aces & VCA Pet Photo Contest. The photo with the most votes by email and "Likes" on Facebook will win $500 toward VCA Animal Hospitals products and services. Voting began on February 4th and will end at midnight on Friday. There are two ways to vote. Fans can view the photos in arena this Friday and send an email to promotions@alaskaaces.com (include the entry number and name of the photo you'd like to vote for) or visit the Aces Facebook Page to view the photos and click "Like" on your favorite photo. Comments on Facebook under entry photos will not be counted as a vote and only one email vote per person will be counted.
This weekend the Aces will also celebrate Valentine's Day and February as Heart Awareness Month. On Saturday the Aces will wear Red & White jerseys that will be auctioned to fans following the game, and hearts will be distributed to fans as they enter Sullivan Arena. On Sunday the Aces have partnered with the American Heart Association for their "Hockey with Heart" game. The partnership between the Aces and the American Heart Association was initiated by Aces athletic trainer, Alan Diamond, who had life-saving heart surgery in the middle of last season. Fans can learn more about Alan's story on the Aces Facebook Page. Additionally, Sunday features another installment of the Fred Meyer Skate with the Aces where fans can skate with the Aces team following the game.
