Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Colorado Eagles held on to beat the Utah Grizzlies 4-3 Friday night at Budweiser Events Center after building an early 3-0 lead.
The two teams now shift to Maverik Center for games Saturday and Monday at 7 p.m.
Colorado scored two goals less than four minutes apart, including one on the power-play to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
After Utah killed 3:54 shorthanded to start the second period, Colorado scored another power-play goal to make it 3-0 before the Grizzlies responded.
Camden Wojtala and Mathieu Aubin worked hard in the corner of the Eagles zone and were finally able to force the puck to Alex Krushelnyski for his fifth goal of the year 8:21 into the second period.
55 seconds later, Utah made it 3-2 as Michael Pelech tipped in his team leading 14th goal of the season as Channing Boe threw it towards the net. Krushelnyski picked up another point with an assist on the play.
Utah started the third period with a five minute major power-play and 54 seconds after that expired earned another two minute power-play but they were able to tie the game.
Pulling the goaltender in the final two minutes, Colorado made it 4-2 on an empty-netter as a Grizzlies forward lost his stick deep in the Eagles zone and the puck came back the other way.
The Grizzlies again refused to go away as Camden Wojtala's first pro goal made it 4-3 with 65 seconds left before Utah ran out of time.
Ducks prospect Igor Bobkov stopped 23 of 26 for Utah and made some huge stops late to keep the Grizzlies within a goal.
