Posa Signing Highlights Fuel Roster Moves

INDIANAPOLIS - A 5'10", 176 lb. left-handed shooting defenseman from Grand Blanc, Michigan, Sam Posa signed an ECHL standard player contract with the Indy Fuel, the team announced Friday. In addition to Posa's signing, the Fuel also announced that forward Garrett Klotz has been activated from the ECHL reserve list and defenseman Anders Franzon has been placed on reserve.
"Sam is a defense-first defenseman who competes very hard and takes pride in blocking shots and killing penalties," Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman said Friday. "Our goal is to improve defensively in order to give ourselves a chance to close out tight games and Sam is the type of competitor that will help us move in the right direction."
In 232 combined OHL appearances for the Windsor Spitfires and Guelph Storm during four seasons from 2009 to 2013, Posa tallied six goals, 51 total points and 178 combined penalty minutes. After a 24-game stint in the CHL with the Missouri Mavericks during the 2013-14 season during which Posa notched two goals, eight points and ten penalty minutes, Posa spent parts of the past two seasons with the University of Windsor in Canada's OUAA, appearing in 28 total games with six goals, 11 points and 18 penalty minutes to his credit over that span.
