LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that four players have been assigned to them through their affiliations. Forwards Joey Sides & Norm Ezekiel and defensemen Jake Marto & Cody Sol will be added to Colorado's roster; both Sides & Marto spent part of last season with the Eagles, while Ezekiel & Sol are both entering their first pro season.

Thursday, October 11; Eagles Announce Opening Day Roster

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today their season-opening roster as they prepare to open their 10th season tomorrow night at the Budweiser Events Center against the Alaska Aces.

There are 19 active players listed on their roster, and three placed on the reserve list. Teams can have up to 20 players on their active roster, and up to 22 players including their reserves. They can also place an unlimited number of players on the 21-day injured reserve list. The Eagles will open the season with 12 forwards (two reserve), eight defensemen (one reserve) & two goaltenders (listed below).

Friday, October 12; Aces Spoil Eagles 10th Home-Opener With Six Special Teams Goals

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles fell to the Alaska Aces, 6-3, as the ECHL opened its 25th season and the Eagles opened their 10th. The Aces -- last season's regular season champions who came to town with three NHL-caliber players on their roster -- scored all of their goals on special teams, with four coming in the final frame as they came from behind to top the Eagles in the first of back-to-back games between the clubs.

Saturday, October 13; Eagles' Penalty-Killers Get Revenge, Colorado Tops Alaska 3-1

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Alaska Aces, 3-1, splitting the clubs' opening-weekend set at the Budweiser Events Center. Rookie goaltender Adam Brown stopped 22 of 23 shots in his professional debut, Michael Forney scored a pair of goals, and Colorado's penalty-killers went a perfect 10-for-10.

Wednesday, October 17, Friday, October 19 & Saturday, October 20; Eagles Look to Carry Last Season's Success Against Steelheads into This Season

After facing the team they struggled against most last season (Alaska), the Eagles will get three games at home against the team they found their most success against in 2011-12, the Idaho Steelheads. Colorado went 6-1-1 against Idaho last season, good for a winning percentage of .813. They went 4-1-0 at the Budweiser Events Center, out-scoring the Steelheads 24-17 in the five meetings. Chad Costello -- last year's league MVP -- led the Eagles' offense with 13 points (5-8-13) in seven games played, while Kyle Jones -- last year's league leader in wins -- went 4-0-0 in net with a GAA of 2.48 and a SV% of .906.

NOTABLE NUMBERS

BROWNIE POINTS - Rookie goalie Adam Brown started his first game on Saturday night and allowed just one goal while making 23 saves. After the season's opening weekend, Brown's GAA (1.00) is tie for the league's lowest and his save percentage (.958) is tied for the third highest.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES - Colorado's penalty-killers struggled mightily in Friday night's season-opener, and their inability to stop Alaska's power play -- the Aces converted on five of eight chances -- was a big reason the Eagles lost; five of Alaska's six goals came on the power play, the five man-advantage markers against tying the 2nd-most in Eagles history. Saturday night, however, was a different story, as Colorado's penalty-killers stymied all 10 of Alaska's power plays, becoming a big reason for the Eagles' win.

TWICE AS NICE - Michael Forney scored the Eagles' first two goals in their 3-1 win on Saturday night, extending a streak that has been a good omen for his clubs. Colorado earned a point in each of the four games that Forney recorded multiple goals last year (three of them shootouts). And in his previous two seasons with Gwinnett, the Gladiators were a perfect 4-0-0 when Forney found the back of the net more than once. Interestingly, seven of his nine career multi-goal games have come on home ice. His 66.7 shooting percentage ranks 3rd in the league after opening weekend.

SUCCESS AGAINST THE STEELHEADS - The Eagles went 6-1-1 against the Steelheads last year, their best record against opponent in their first season in the ECHL. Despite the success, the games between the two teams were generally close, as Colorado out-scored Idaho by a total of just 11 goals (37-25) in the eight games; five of the games were decided by just one or two scores. Chad Costello & Kyle Jones, especially, feasted on the fish; the forward racked up 13 points (5-8-13) in just seven meetings and the goaltender posted a 4-0-0 record while recording a 2.48 GAA -- his best against any team last year.

FISH IN A BARREL - Last season, Idaho allowed a league-high 39 shots per game, while recording just 29 (the third-fewest in the ECHL). In their eight meetings with Colorado, the Eagles out-shot the Steelheads 358 to 217, an average of 45 shots-for and 27 shots-against per game.

The auction will open at 6 and close at the end of the second intermission. All of the money raised through the jersey auctions will go to the Colorado Eagles Foundation, and specialty jerseys (pink, camo, etc.) will benefit their respective local causes. If silent auctions aren't your style, we'll also have a "Buy It Now" jersey each night at the merchandise counter, priced to move and gone once it's purchased.

Fans' Vision All-Decade Team, Presented by the Eye Laser Center of Northern Colorado - Entering the 10th season of Colorado Eagles hockey, nearly 130 players have donned an Eagles jersey, and we're leaving it up to our fans to help choose the top six! Each month throughout the season, fans will be able to vote to select on position on the 6-member team. In addition to helping decide this historic team, fans who participate will have the chance to win several great prizes, highlighted by FREE LASIK, courtesy of the Eye Laser Center of Northern Colorado.

Wendy's Colorado Eagles Kids' Club - Fans who signed their kids up for the Wendy's Colorado Eagles Kids' Club may pick up their goodie bags in the main lobby of the Budweiser Events Center from 6-7 during each home game during the month of October.

Saturday Post-Game Parties Back at The Boot - The Boot Grill, located just south of the Budweiser Events Center at the intersection of Crossroads Blvd. & Clydesdale Pkwy., will once again be the exclusive host of the team's post-game parties following Saturday home games during the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Coach's Shows Continue From Lucky Joe's - The Colorado Eagles Coach's Show returns to Lucky Joe's Sidewalk Saloon in Old Town Fort Collins on select Monday evenings throughout the hockey season when the team's travel schedule allows (schedule below). This year's Coach's Show will run from 6-6:30, with the first 10 minutes live on 107.9 The Bear and the rest able to be heard on location or via the Colorado Eagles mobile app. Fans are encouraged to come to Lucky Joe's to meet the Eagles players in attendance (they'll be there starting at 5:30), get autographs, win prizes and stay up-to-date on all the news about the team, while also enjoying the venue's great food and drink specials.
