Recapping Last Week:

10/12 vs. Reading: W 3-2

The Jackals struck first early in the opening period and never trailed Reading en route to a win on opening night. Jordan Pietrus banged home a loose puck from the doorstep at 5:47 and lifted the Jackals into the lead. Reading came back to tie it on an unassisted goal by Joel Champagne 13:40 into the second period. The tie was broken by a pair of Elmira goals just 3:16 apart in the third period. Artem Demkov slammed home a power play goal at 5:20 then Dustin Gazley followed up with his first goal of the season on a 2-on-1 rush with Andrew Rowe. Reading pulled goalie Philipp Grubbauer for an extra attacker and squeaked in a goal with seven seconds left, but Elmira held on for the win. Goalie Marc Cheverie swatted away 34 shots to win his Jackals debut.

10/13 vs. Greenville: W 7-1

Elmira was in control of Saturday night's game from wire to wire in a 7-1 win over visiting Greenville. It took just over two minutes for Rob Bellamy to punch home the rebound of a Kyle Bushee point shot and give the Jackals the 1-0 lead. In the second Jordan Pietrus tipped in a pass from Chris Wideman and Bushee blasted a one-timer from the point for a power play goal to put the Jackals up by three. Greenville tired to chip away with a goal by Bretton Cameron at 17:03, but Elmira's Brandon Blandina scored his first pro goal 41 seconds later to restore the three-goal lead. The Jackals poured it on in the third with goals by Brad Peltz, Dustin Gazley, and Jean Bourbeau to finish the rout. Marc Cheverie was stout in net with 26 saves.
