San Francisco Bulls News Release

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls Professional Hockey Team, proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, earned their first victory in team history, defeating the Bakersfield Condors 6-5, Saturday night, in front of 3,659 at the Cow Palace. The Bulls offense was powered by a four-point effort from captain Justin Bowers, who finished with a goal and three assists. Sacha Guimond registered the game-winning tally, 50 seconds into the third period. The Bulls now take to the road for nine games, before returning home on Friday, November 9.

The Bulls started off quickly. Kevin Baker registered his second goal of the season on a breakaway, 4:17 into the game. The Condors struck back with two to take a 2-1 lead. Robby Dee scored at 8:51 of the first period, followed by Olivier Dame-Malka's tally on the power play, 2:08 later. The Condors took that lead into the second period.

Dean Ouellet scored his second of the season, just 27 seconds into the middle frame to tie the game at two. Bowers and Jordan Clendenning earned the assists. Matt Carter regained the lead for the Bulls with his first of the season at 3:40 of the second period. Kris Belan and Kevin Baker earned the helpers. The lead didn't last long with Zach Cohen scoring at the 5:38 mark for a 3-3 game. Bowers at 9:20 and Thomas Beauregard at 12:14 of the second period put the Bulls back on top 5-3. David Toews and Levi Nelson scored late in the second period to even the game back at five through 40 minutes. The Bulls had a 29-13 shot lead through two periods.

The third period saw just one goal-the Bulls' winner. Guimond slipped by a defender on the power play before depositing the puck in the far post for a power-play tally and his second of the season. Goaltender Taylor Nelson and the rest of the squad preserved the victory, helped by excellent penalty killing. The Condors failed to score on a five-minute power play and two minutes of a five-on-three advantage.

The Bulls next play the Ontario Reign on the road on Wednesday at 7 pm. Catch all of the action live on KNBR.com and on America One Sports.
