WINDSOR, CO â The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are 27-10-2 on the 2003-04 season and have 56 points. They are currently in first place in the Northwest Division and tied for second place in the league overall with Amarillo.

PLAYER MOVES
Right winger Greg Pankewicz was called up to the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins of the AHL (Pittsburg Penguins affiliate). He left for Wilkes-Barre January 14 and played his first game with the team Saturday, January 17 against Philadelphia. Two days later, January 16, Head Coach Chris Stewart traded forward Cam Kuzyk to Tulsa for future considerations. Kuzyk played his first game with the Oilers Saturday, January 17 in Amarillo.

The Coach's show will air tonight on 1410 the Zone and will be broadcast from Bennigan's in Fort Collins. Coach's show host, Kevin McGlue along with Eagles play-by-play personality Tori Holt, and Head Coach Chris Stewart will discuss the team's last three games and what's ahead for the Eagles. THE ENTIRE EAGLES HOCKEY TEAM WILL BE AT BENNIGANS FOR THE COACH'S SHOW AND TO SIGN AUTOGRAPH'S.

1/20 EAGLES HOST READ TO WIN AT KRISTA MCCULLAH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN GREELEY â Goaltenders Gian Baldrica and Ryan Bach, along with defenseman Brad Williamson will read to children and explain the importance of reading to them Tuesday, January 20 from 1-3 p.m.
1/21 CHAMPION CHEVROLET IN WINDSOR â Defensemen Lee Ruff and Igor Bondarevs along with forwards Karlis Zirnis and Mike McGhan will be at Champion Chevrolet in Windsor Wednesday, January 21 from 5-7 p.m. to meet fans and sign autographs.
1/25 EAGLES SKATE WITH FOSTER CHILDREN FOR REALITIES FOR CHILDREN â Players from the Eagles hockey team will skate with children at Providence Arena in Windsor Sunday, January 25 from 1-2 p.m.
The Colorado Eagles are currently first in the Northwest Division and second overall in the Central Hockey League. The Eagles have two players in the league's top ten for points. Eagles left winger Ryan Tobler is third with 60 points and center Riley Nelson is eighth in the league with 49 points. Eagles goalie Ryan Bach currently leads the league in minutes in the net (1980:33) and in wins (21). He is fifth in the league for saves with 812. Netminder Gian Baldrica currently has an impressive 1.92 GAA, and is undefeated in his professional career.
LAST WEEK'S GAME SUMMARIES:
January â Colorado Eagles vs Tulsa Oilers EAGLES 4-3 SO
WINDSOR, CO - The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) defeated the Oilers in a shootout at the Budweiser Events Center, 4-3. The Eagles sold out their twenty-first consecutive home game tonight, 5,211 fans were in attendance. Eagles center Riley Nelson, left winger Karlis Zirnis, defenseman Lee Ruff, and right winger Phil Crowe each managed a goal in the match up. Eagles goaltender Gian Baldrica earned his sixth win of the season, saving 22 of 25 shots. Oilers forwards Lukas Sedlacek and Marian Koleda along with left winger Jason Bermingham all netted a goal in the game. Tulsa's netminder Rod Branch saved an impressive 40 of 43 shots.
Forty-seven seconds into the first period, in his first game back since being called up to the San Antonio Rampage January 1, Nelson netted the fastest goal in Colorado Eagles history. The goal was assisted by left winger Mike McGhan and defenseman Brent Thompson. Less than six minutes later (6:02) another Eagle first occured when Colorado defenseman Igor Bondarevs served his first penalty of the year for holding. Colorado's Zirnis managed the Eagles second score of the night on a power play, assisted by left winger Ryan Tobler and Nelson. Baldrica had a perfect performance in the first, saving 8 shots. The period ended with a 2-0 Eagles lead.
Tulsa managed two goals in the second period, both on power plays, to even the score, 2-2. Both goals came late in the period. Thirteen minutes thrity-two seconds into the period Sedlacek netted his first goal of the season from Koleda and defenseman Shawn Scanzano. One minute fifty-three seconds later Tulsa struck again when Bermingham scored, assisted by Koleda and defenseman Regan Harper.
Oilers Koleda amassed his third point of the night, scoring a goal three minutes thirty-nine seconds into the third period, assisted by Sedlacek and defenseman Rob Meanchoff. Two minutes fifty-four seconds later Colorado's Ruff scored on a pass from forward Daniel Bohac to tie the game. The remainder of the period was scoreless, forcing the game into overtime. Neither team managed a goal in overtime, forcing a shootout. The shootout went through 14 skaters before Colorado's Crowe netted the game winner. The Eagles were victorious, 4-3.
Baldrica earned his sixth win of the season (remaining undefeated), saving 22 of 25 shots. The Eagles out shot the Oilers 44 to 25.
January â Colorado Eagles @ New Mexico Scorpions EAGLES 5-1
WINDSOR, CO - The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) defeated the Scorpions in New Mexico without Head Coach Chris Stewart, 5-1. Eagles center Riley Nelson, left wingers Karlis Zirnis and Ryan Tolber along with defensemen Brent Thompson and Scott Swanson each managed a goal in the match up. Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach earned his twenty-first win of the season, saving 23 of 24 shots. New Mexico's left winger Peter Ambroziak scored the team's only goal in the match up. Scorpions netminder Danny Lorenz saved an 26 of 31 shots. Although three goals were scored in the first period, the most intriguing moment of the period occurred when Eagles Head Coach, Stewart, was ejected from the game for arguing a call made by referee Steve Cruickshank. The Eagles were the first to score in the period (14:39) when Tobler netted a pass from Zirnis. Three minutes four seconds later (17:43) New Mexico's Ambroziak scored, to even the score, assisted by defenseman Erik Adams and center Chris Richards. With only four second left in the period the Eagles struck (19:56) when Thompson managed the game-winning goal on a power play, assisted by defenseman Igor Bondarevs and Nelson. The Eagle ended the period without a coach, but with a 2-1 lead over the Scorpions.
In the Eagles first full period without Stewart, Swanson netted the only goal of the second period (15:59) from Nelson and Zirnis. The Eagles left the ice with a two goal lead, 3-1, over the Scorpions.
The Eagles continued to dominate play in the third period, managing to unassisted goals. The first score of the period came from Zirnis, he slammed a shot past Lorenz (9:58). Nelson netted the second unassisted goal of the third period (18:53), ending the game with a 5-1 Eagles victory, the team's fourth consecutive win.
Bach earned his twenty-first win of the season, saving 23 of 24 shots. The Eagles out shot the Scorpions 31 to 24.
