Amarillo Gorillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX – Amigo Broadcasting announced that they would be airing the 2004 Dodge CHL All-star Game on Hot 99.7 FM. The game will take place on Thursday, Jan. 22 in Albuquerque, beginning with the pre-game show at 7:50 pm followed by the puck drop at around 8:15 p.m.

"We are pleased that Amigo has agreed to air the all-star game," said Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Denis J. Puska. "Our fans have shown an interest in wanting to hear the game so we are making it available for them. This will be one of the best attended games for Amarillo professional hockey."

Amarillo will represented by three players Mark DeSantis, Shawn Degagne, and Derek Hahn, along with broadcaster Denis J. Puska and photographer George Wyatt. This is the first time in Amarillo hockey history that the team has produced these kinds of numbers for an All-star game.

Defenseman Mark DeSantis and goaltender Shawn Degagne were voted as starters for the Southern Conference. DeSantis goes into the All-star game tied for the team lead in assist with 24 along with six goals. Degagne is currently second in the league's win category with 19. They will be joined by center Derek Hahn who is having a great follow-up to his Rookie of the Year nod last season. Hahn leads the team with 20 goals and is tied with DeSantis with 24 assist for a total of 44 points.

"Being able to have that kind of representation is a reflection of a strong group and staff....along with the quality of players that Joe Ferras has put together," said Gary Thach General Managing partner with Hockey Sports of Amarillo. "The quality of the three on and off the ice are truly deserving and they will be a great representation for our team."

The players will be joined by the voice of Denis J. Puska and the photography of George Wyatt. Puska will be one of three broadcasters who will be handling the play-by-play, color commentary, and sideline reporting for the 2004 CHL All-star game. Puska is in his second season with the Gorillas and his third year in Amarillo. He received a nomination for the CHL Broadcaster award one year ago. George Wyatt is a resident of Amarillo and one of the CHL's premier photographers. He will be in attendance for all of the All-star functions, and following the game photographs can be purchased on-line at www.swsports.com.

"We are extremely excited about having Denis J. Puska as a broadcaster for the All-Star game because of the excitement he has for the team and the game," said Thach.

The 2004 Dodge All-star game will kick off its festivities on Wednesday with the All-star Banquet and guest speaker Phil Esposito. There will also be a media luncheon, skills competition, and finally the game itself. Shawn Michaels a WWE superstar, will also be taking part in the All-star game as a special guest of the New Mexico Scorpions.
