Quad City earned a 5-0 win over Houston on Thursday night. Kevin Lalande stopped 24 Houston shots to earn a shutout in his 2008-09 AHL debut. Kris Chucko scored twice in the win while Jamie Lundmark, Kyle Greentree and Adam Cracknell provided solo tallies. The five-goal victory marked the Flames largest winning margin of the season so far.
Kris Chucko scored the only goal of the first period when he streaked down right wing and sent a blast into the top near corner of the Aeros cage. Chucko's 14th goal of the year also represented his 31st point of the campaign, a new career high for the third year winger. The tally gave Quad City a 1-0 edge after one period.
Quad City took control of the contest with a pair of goals in the middle frame. Chucko netted his second tally of the night when he scored on the rebound from a Kyle Greentree shot at 4:22 of the period. Less than three minutes later, Jamie Lundmark scored to put the Flames in front 3-0. Lundmark broke into the Aeros zone on a 2-on-1 break with Brett Sutter during a stretch of 4-on-4 hockey. Lundmark took the initial shot before scoring on his own rebound to record his 12th goal of the year. The Flames continued to hold that lead as the teams left the ice for the second intermission.
The Flames capped the victory with a pair of third period goals. Kyle Greentree tucked home his 22nd tally of the season at 2:20 of the final frame. Adam Cracknell added a power-play goal with 8:02 left in regulation to set the final at 5-0 in favor of Quad City.
The Flames are in San Antonio on Friday for a game vs. the Rampage. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC beginning at 6:35 p.m. with The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show. Fans can watch the game live for just $6.00 at ahllive.com.
The Flames return from a nine-game road trip on Saturday night. Quad City will host Milwaukee at the i wireless Center beginning at 7:05 p.m. The first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a poster featuring 2009 AHL All-Star Brett Palin.
