Iowa Chops News Release
A 3rd period power play goal from Andrew Ebbett, two goals from Ryan Dingle and another goal from Joakim Lindstrom gave the Iowa Chops perhaps their biggest win of the season, as the defeated the Manitoba Moose 4-3 on Saturday night in front of 10,755 fans at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. The win by the Chops snapped the 9-game home winning streak of Manitoba, and gave the Chops at least a point in their last five games.
The game began much like Friday night's game with the Moose scoring the first two goals of the game. It only took over two minutes for the Moose to take the lead as a turnover in the Chops zone led to an unassisted goal from Mario Bliznak, who beat Chops goaltender JP Levasseur to the blocker side. Three minutes later Michael Grabner scored after a scramble in front to make it 2-0 Moose. However, just like Friday night the Chops would comeback. The Chops got on the board thanks to Ryan Dingle's first goal of the season. Some hard work from linemate Troy Bodie made Moose goaltender Karl Goehring misplay the puck and Dingle found himself with an open net. The Chops would tie the game 2-2 with Joakim Lindstrom's third goal of the weekend as he sent a wrist shot through a screened Goehring with assists to Andrew Ebbett and Brennan Evans. Just :46 seconds later the Moose regained the lead 3-2 as Pierre-Cedric Labrie took a pass from the corner to beat Levasseur to the glove side on a one-timer from the slot. The Chops would answer back minutes later on a 2 on 1 as Dingle scored his second of the game beating Goehring over the shoulder with assists to Petteri Wirtanen and another to Evans. The 3rd period began with Ryan Donally winning a decisive fight over Zack FitzGerald, who was knocked out cold thanks to a right cross from Donally. Six minutes later, the Chops took advantage of their only power play of the night as Andrew Ebbett knocked home a loose puck with after a tip in front and hard work from linemates TJ Trevelyan and Drew Miller. The Chops, led by Levasseur's 26 saves, held the lead the remainder of the game to post their 12th win of the year and snap Manitoba's 9-game home winning streak.
