SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Houston Aeros snapped a four-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over the San Antonio Rampage. Krys Kolanos netted two goals, including the game winner to help move the Aeros back to .500 with a 9-9-1-1 record. With a power-play goal at the 11:20 mark in the first period the Aeros got on the board with the only goal of the frame. Halfway through Houston's second man-advantage of the game Brandon Rogers set up Marco Rosa with a pass near the center of the blue line. Rosa's hard shot was tipped by Peter Olvecky and found the back of the net for his second power-play goal of the season. Houston out-shot the Rampage 17-10 in the first frame and was called for no penalties compared to San Antonio's two infractions.
Krys Kolanos moved the Aeros into a 2-0 lead only 3:48 into the second period with an even strength goal. The second goal of the game was assisted by Jesse Shultz and Corey Locke. Houston allowed only one power-play in the period, which they killed off, and failed to convert on three man-advantages of their own. San Antonio out-shot the Aeros 11-10 in the second.
The Rampage put a little more pressure on the Aeros when they came within one goal only 2:15 into the final period when Chad Kolarik netted an even-strength tally. Houston fought off two quick short-handed situations following the goal. The Rampage emptied the net for an extra attacker with 1:10 remaining but Kolanos took advantage for his second goal of the night, 11th of the season to clinch the 3-1 victory.
Houston killed off all four penalties against and converted on one of six power-play chances. The Aeros out-shot San Antonio 36-33 in the game that snapped the four-game winless streak.
