Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

Binghamton, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 3-2 by the Binghamton Senators in the first game of the home-and-home-away from home series between the two clubs. Binghamton starting goaltender Brian Elliott made 26 saves to earn the win for the Senators.

Binghamton opened the game's scoring at 18:55 of the first frame. Drew Fata blasted a shot from the blue line that went over the goal and took a weird bounce off the back boards. The puck landed in front of the net where Denis Hamel was able to grab the loose puck and bang it into the empty net as Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins was out of position because of the strange bounce.

The B-Sens added their second goal at 1:17 of the second stanza. Greg Mauldin stripped the puck off a Dog behind the net before feeding a pass to Peter Regin, who was stationed in front of the net. Regin snapped a shot over the glove of Desjardins to give Binghamton a 2-0 lead.

While on the power play, Mathieu Aubin scored his first goal of the season at 10:58 of the middle frame. David Desharnais skated down the right side before sending a pass to Max Pacioretty, who released a shot that rung off the post. Aubin grabbed the loose puck and deposited it into the back of the net to cut the Senators lead to one.

The B-Sens regained their two-goal lead with a power-play marker at 18:05 of the second period. Josh Hennessy rifled a shot on net that was saved by Desjardins. Desjardins was unable to control the rebound, which allowed Danny Bois to pick up the loose puck and slide it into the goal.

With 35 seconds remaining in the game the Bulldogs scored their second goal of the game. Following a scramble in front of Elliot, numerous ‘Dogs fired shots on the net before Mike Glumac squeaked the puck past Elliott. Kyle Chipchura and Mathieu Aubin earned assists on the play. The Senators held off a late surge by Hamilton to win the game 3-2.

The ‘Dogs and B-Sens travel to Montreal for a 5:00 p.m. match-up tomorrow at the Bell Centre in the second game of the home-and-home away from home series between the clubs. 2008-2009 Hamilton Bulldogs single-game and season tickets are now available!
