Clinton LumberKings News Release

Peoria, IL - The Clinton LumberKings couldn't hold a 1-0 lead late at Peoria as the Chiefs scored three times off right-hander Forrest Snow in the sixth and seventh innings and hung on for a 3-1 win Friday night at O'Brien Field.

The LumberKings broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning as Carlos Ramirez reached on a one-out bunt single - Clinton's first hit of the night - and scored two batters later as Stefen Romero reached on a fielder's choice.

Snow kept the Chiefs off the board until the sixth, when Greg Rohan drilled a line single to right that ate up Jabari Blash. The ball rolled to the wall for a two-base fielding error and sent Rohan to third. He'd score shortly thereafter as Richard Jones lifted a double over the head of center-fielder Julio Morban to tie the game.

Snow (L, 1-6) walked the next two batters and yielded an RBI fielder's choice to Anthony Giansanti scoring Jones for a 2-1 Peoria lead. They'd score one more for insurance in the seventh as Pierre LePage singled, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Rohan's flare single to shallow right. Snow exited with three runs on seven hits over 7.0 innings and seven strikeouts, his team-best fourth quality start despite the loss.

Right-hander Stephen Kohlscheen added a scoreless eighth inning to keep it close, but the LumberKings could muster only a one-out single by Morban and nothing more in the final frame. Right-hander Alvaro Sosa (W, 1-0) picked up the win in relief, while right-handers Bryce Shafer (H, 1) and Marcus Hatley (S, 3) combined on 3.0 scoreless innings.

Rohan finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI to pace the Chiefs. Giansanti went 2-for-4 with the game-winning RBI.

The LumbeKings (11-31) continue the four-game series at Peoria (22-19) tomorrow night at O'Brien Field, first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM. Right-hander Taijuan Walker (1-2, 5.68) starts for Clinton while the Chiefs answer with right-hander Hayden Simpson (0-1, 4.45).
