
Injury Brings Ortiz to Hawks

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
Midland, MI - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that OF Bobby Stone has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 19th. Outfielder Roberto Ortiz joins the club from extended spring training and will be in uniform for tonight's game against the Great Lakes Loons.
Stone injured his left arm while throwing out a runner at the plate in Tuesday's win over the Lansing Lugnuts. He was batting .193 with one home run and 10 RBIs.
Ortiz has hit .261 in two previous Minor League seasons, making his U.S. debut with Yakima last year. In 64 games with the Bears in 2010, Ortiz hit .263 with one home run, but showcased his speed with 23 stolen bases in 27 tries.
The South Bend roster currently stands at 25 active players plus two on the disabled list.
