Spokane Chiefs News Release

Wenatchee, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs went a perfect 2-for-2 on the man advantage against the Wenatchee Wild Friday night, but it wasn't enough as the Wild skated to a 4-2 victory at home.

The Chiefs were quick to get on the board has top 2024 NHL Draft prospect Berkly Catton capitalized on Spokane's first power play of the night by firing the puck to the twine for an early 1-0 lead at 2:07. Defenseman Brayden Crampton and rookie Owen Martin were credited with the assists on the play.

From there, the Wild controlled the rest of the frame with three-straight goals: Matthew Savoie at 3:27, Karter Prosofsky at 6:06 and Conor Geekie at 18:19.

Wenatchee carried that 3-1 lead all the way until the 17:18 mark of the middle period, when Crampton pushed the puck over to Catton on the wing from the point and Catton sniped it over the shoulder of Brendan Gee for his second power play goal of the night.

That's as close as the Chiefs would get, though, as Hayden Moore tacked on a fourth Wenatchee goal at 14:40 in the third and Gee would close out the rest of the frame in net to secure the 4-2 win for the Wild.

Spokane was also perfect on the penalty kill (1/1), but were outshot 35-32 with Cooper Michaluk posting 31 saves.

Up next, the Chiefs return home to take on the Victoria Royals Saturday night at 6:05 p.m.
