Chiefs Defeat Reading 5-2

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs scored three first period goals en route to a 5-2 win at home Saturday night over the Reading Royals.

Brent Kelly, Dominic Forget and Steve Hildenbrand all scored first period goals for Johnstown. Jay Langager and Chris Leinweber also scored for the Chiefs. Leinweber's goal was his first professional tally. Lars Pettersen and Graig Mischler scored for the Royals.

Chiefs goaltender David Currie made 35 saves for his 9th win of the season. Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky (20 saves) suffered the loss despite being pulled after the first period. Peter Hamerlik played the final two periods for Reading allowing two goals and making 12 saves.

With the win, the Chiefs claim sole possession of fourth place in the Northern division with a 24-15-5 record. Reading falls to 22-14-7.

Next week, the Chiefs will play three home games in four nights. Wednesday, they host the Wheeling Nailers and Friday and Saturday the Peoria Rivermen. Face-off for all three games is at 7:05 p.m. February 21st, when the Chiefs take on the Trenton Titans, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car will be on display at the arena.
