Chiefs Acquire Left Wing Zehr From Greenville

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today that they have acquired left wing Jeff Zehr (ZARE) from the Greenville Grrrowl for future considerations.

Zehr, 25, appeared in 32 games for Greenville this season scoring 2 goals, 25 points and 118 PIM. Zehr began the season with Peoria where he had two goals in nine games. The 6'3, 195 LBS native of Woodstock, Ontario played four games with the NHL's Boston Bruins during the 1999-00 season. Zehr has also seen ECHL action with Greensboro and Cincinnati. In 193 professional games, he has 54 goals, 135 points and 794 PIM. He played junior hockey with Sarnia, Erie and Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League.

Last season, Zehr played for the Columbus Cottonmouths where he scored a point a game (58 gp 23-35-58; 229 PIM). He was the New York Islanders second round draft pick (31st overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Zehr will be in the line-up when the Chiefs host the Reading Royals tonight (7:05 p.m.) at the War Memorial.
