Sea Wolves Swim Past the Wildcatters, 4-2

Beaumont, TX (January 31, 2004) – The Nextel Cup returned to Ford Arena as the Texas Wildcatters hosted Mississippi for game seven of the 15-game series. The Sea Wolves skated to a 4-2 victory and lead the series six games to one. Ryan Fultz, the newest member of the Wildcatters, opened up the scoring at the 1:35 mark of the first period as he netted his second goal in as many nights. The power-play goal was assisted by John Campbell and Rob Guinn. Mississippi answered back at the 9:12 mark of the same period as Sergei Kuznetsov tallied his 12th goal of the year. The Sea Wolves would take the lead two minutes later as Louis Dumont tacked on a power-play goal. They would add one more goal in the period to take a 3-1 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes of play.

Goaltender Mark Scally relieved Davis Parley to start the second period between the pipes for the Wildcatters, stopping all 13 shots he faced in the scoreless period.

Texas cut into the Sea Wolves lead at the 4:41 mark of the final stanza as Brian Passmore took a feed from Martin Masa to record his 11th goal of the season. Mississippi would put the game out of reach at the 14:42 mark of the third period as Steffon Walby scored his 22nd goal of the year. Parley suffered the loss with 18 saves on 21 first period shots. Scally had 24 saves in two periods of work.
