Chicago Native Stapleton Returns to Wolves

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned center Tim Stapleton to the Chicago Wolves.

Stapleton has appeared 11 games with Atlanta this season since being signed by the team on Nov. 30, accruing two penalty minutes. He also has accrued two assists and a +2 plus/minus rating in two outings with the Wolves and eight goals and 15 points in 20 contests with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage earlier this year.

Last year, the Forest Park, Ill., native ranked second on the Wolves and shared 10th in the league with a career-high 30 goals and ranked second on Chicago with 59 points in 73 games. He also shared third on the team with 29 assists and paced Wolves forwards with a +22 plus/minus rating. The 28-year-old forward also notched two goals in six outings with the Thrashers last year.

Overall, Stapleton has registered three goals in 21 NHL games with Atlanta and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and 160 points (66G, 94A) in 174 AHL outings with the Wolves, Rampage, Toronto Marlies and Portland Pirates.

The Wolves host the Houston Aeros at the Allstate Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m.
