Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Syracuse Crunch 1-0 in a shootout on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. Both goalies earned a shutout as Jean-Philippe Levasseur made 46 saves for the Crunch and Curtis Sanford made 22 saves. This is the first time in franchise history that neither team has scored in regulation or overtime at Copps Coliseum. The last 1-0 shootout game for the 'Dogs was played on April 7, 2007 when they defeated the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum.

Through three periods of play neither team could earn a goal. The Bulldogs had fired 39 shots on net but all were turned aside by Levasseur. A few 'Dogs players also rang shots off the post and crossbar but were unable to get a tally on the scoreboard.

With both teams unable to score in the overtime period as well, the 0-0 game went into a shootout. Nick Bonino was the only Syracuse player able to beat Curtis Sanford as he stopped four other Crunch players while Ben Maxwell and Alexander Avtsin notched shootout goals for Hamilton to lead their team to victory.
