CHICAGO FIRE THIRD KIT TO DEBUT OCT. 5 DURING 17th ANNIVERSARY GAME

The fan-designed Chicago Fire third kit will make its on-field debut on Oct. 5 during the Chicago Fire vs. Montreal Impact match presented by Wintrust Community Banks.

The Fire teamed up with The Quaker Oats Company and held a third kit design contest, asking Fire supporters to submit the design for the jersey that would be unveiled at the Anniversary game. After the entries were narrowed down to five designs, fans ultimately had the final say, casting tens of thousands of votes to select Chicago-based architect Freddy Christiano's "Heart on Your Sleeve" design as the winner. The new third kits will go on sale to the general public on October 1 and also be available for purchase at the game.

Supporters will have the opportunity to bid on the game-worn third kit jerseys from each member of the team, including Fire mascot Sparky. Winning bidders will have the player whose jersey they won personally autograph the new piece of game-worn memorabilia immediately after the game. Bidding opens on Wednesday, Oct. 1 and will run to the end of halftime of the Fire vs. Montreal Impact match on Oct. 5. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation.

The celebration continues on Oct. 8 when the Fire and Section 8 Chicago will celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Club's founding. Supporters are invited to join Fire players, coaches and staff at the Toyota Park Stadium Club from 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. CT. Entrance is free to all supporters with a suggested $10 donation to the Chicago Fire Foundation. Section 8 Chicago will hold its October board meeting from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. with food, beverages and the program featuring classic Fire matches, prize raffle and stadium tours beginning afterwards.
