Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO (September 29, 2014) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will launch its new third kit on the Club's 17th Anniversary Game on October 5, presented by Wintrust Community Banks. The Fire's anniversary match will feature the third kits for the first time on the field. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. CT at Toyota Park when the squad arrives on the pitch in the new uniforms ahead of the Club's formal anniversary on October 8.
"As we prepare to celebrate 17 years as Chicago's Major League Soccer franchise, we look forward to launching this unique kit that pays homage to our great city," said Chicago Fire COO Atul Khosla. "We are especially excited that our fans were able to get involved in the design and voting process for this kit."
In October 2013, the Fire and Quaker held a Third Kit Contest to allow fans the opportunity to create a design that best represented the Club and the city. Fan votes determined Chicago architect Freddy Christiano's "Heart On Your Sleeve" design as the winner.
The October 5th game also marks Fan Appreciation Day. At halftime, the Fire will team up with Toyota to give away the Chicago Fire Toyota Corolla to one lucky fan. The day will also feature third kit-themed rally towel giveaways, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, to the first 5,000 fans at the gates, $2 beer and hot dog specials, and a commemorative jersey auction to benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation.
The new third kits will go on sale to the general public on October 1 and be available for purchase at the game. For more information on the match or to purchase tickets, please visit www.chicago-fire.com.
