CARSON, CA (September 28, 2014) - The New York Red Bulls had their four-game MLS unbeaten streak snapped on Sunday with a 4-0 loss to Western Conference co-leader, the LA Galaxy, at StubHub Center.

Despite the defeat, the Red Bulls finished a busy September 3-1-1 in league play and are currently in the fifth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference with 41 points and a 10-9-11 record.

With four games remaining, New York begins a three-game homestand at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, October 4 when it hosts the Houston Dynamo at 6:00 PM. The hosts took the lead in the eighth minute. Landon Donovan drove towards goal before playing a square pass to Robbie Keane, who got enough space to chip it over goalkeeper Luis Robles and into the back of the net.

Despite the Galaxy's control over the first portion of the match, New York had a good opportunity to tie the game seven minutes following Keane's opener. Thierry Henry was able to slip it through to Bradley Wright-Phillips, whose left-footed shot was blocked by a sprawling Jaime Penedo. Wright-Phillips had a similar opportunity in the 31st minute, this time being put in by Peguy Luyindula. But Penedo was off his line to grab the shot.

Penedo was the hero again for the Galaxy four minutes from the break, stopping Eric Alexander's on target blast. On the other end, LA nearly went up 2-0, as defender Roy Miller and Robles came up with big blocks on blasts from Baggio Husidic and Robbie Rogers, respectively.

The Galaxy doubled their advantage in the 50th minute. Donovan was able to latch onto a long ball that was misplayed by New York and rifled it home. Less than 20 minutes later, Gyasi Zardes tucked one past Robles to make it 3-0 before Keane completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, putting it in from close range.
