LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Sept. 29, 2014) - The LA Galaxy (16-5-9, 57 points) will take on Toronto FC at StubHub Center this Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. PT live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes.
Bruce Arena's side has lost just twice in the past 22 matches and is unbeaten in their past nine games. The Galaxy have scored the most goals in MLS with 63 and have also allowed the fewest this year with 31, giving them an MLS best +32 goal differential. The Galaxy's 63 goals this year are the second-highest output during a single season in the club history.
The Galaxy will face Toronto FC for the first time this year. The Galaxy are 4-2-6 all-time against Toronto, scoring 16 goals on 16 assists in their previous 12 meetings. In the six matches played in Southern California, LA has lost just once to Toronto, going 3-1-2.
With three assists against New York, forward Landon Donovan is now tied with Steve Ralston for the most assists in MLS history at 135. Donovan's 18 assists this season lead MLS and are a new career high. Forward Robbie Keane is second in MLS with 14 assists. Keane is also third in MLS with 17 goals, just one ahead of LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Gyasi Zardes, who continues to lead all Americans in scoring this season in addition to setting a new Homegrown Player record for goals scored in a season. With Keane, Donovan and Zardes all scoring double-digit goals this year, it marks just the second time in club history the Galaxy have accomplished such a feat. Since 1998, only two other clubs have had three goal scorers with 10 or more goals in a single-season.
