Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, NC—The Charlotte Checkers allowed three quick second period goals and weren't able to bounce back as they were handed their second loss of the season, 7-0, at the hands of the Florida Everblades.

Everblades forward Jacob Micflikier led the way offensively with three goals and three assists and goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped all 28 shots he faced for the shutout. Micflikier now has nine points in the last two games against Charlotte.

Florida opened the scoring 11 minutes into the game on a shorthanded goal by Rob Hennigar. Hennigar took a pass from Micflikier and fired a wrist shot from the blueline that beat Checkers goaltender Billy Sauer over the glove.

Less than one minute into the second period, Brandon Buck picked up rebound in front of the net and beat the sprawling Charlotte netminder for his fifth of the season.

Micflikier would add to Florida's lead just 2:37 later when he beat Sauer between the legs on a pass by Matt Duffy.

Florida remained on the attack, adding a power play goal on a point shot by rookie defenseman Scott Hotham and an even-strength tally by Micflikier.

Micflikier would add another goal late in the third for the hat trick as the Everblades earned the win, improving their record to 4-4-1-1. Sauer stopped 24 shots in a losing cause for the Checkers (4-2-1-0).

The Kalamazoo Wings will make their first ever trip to Charlotte on Sunday for "Checkers Fight For Ellie". Game time is 2 p.m. and ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com .
