Checkers raise over $5,000 for medical fund
February 28, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that the team raised $5,602 for the Ross Minor Medical Fund at their game on Feb. 10. That number is likely going to reach $6,000 with the support of an ongoing promotion at Nothing But Noodles in Stonecrest.
An outpouring of local support was the story of the night with a multitude of sponsors getting involved with the Checkers to raise funds for the Ross Minor family. This past June, Ross, 8, and his brother Ryan, 10, were both shot by their father who then turned the gun on himself. Ryan died from the gun shot while Ross survived, but lost 100 percent of his vision.
The following sponsors contributed their time and financial resources to make the night an enormous success.
Mecklenburg Diagnostic Imaging Expanded Mortgage Credit
Aaron's Corporate Furnishings Greater Carolina Group
Barbizon Modeling and Acting Agency Image 51 Salon and Spa
Eagle Home Improvement Services, Inc. CMS School Board
The Wing King Creative Sewing and Vacuums
Skidmore and Associates Agency Southtown Riders
On the Border Nothing But Noodles
Image Arts, Etc. Macaroni Grill
Trio Restaurant East Coast Mortgage Lending
In addition to the ticket related funds that were raised, the Nothing But Noodles at Stonecrest will donate 25 percent of each check accompanied by a ticket stub from the Feb. 10 game.
Minor attended the game that night and was given seats directly behind the player's bench and was accompanied by family and friends.
The Checkers are back at home Sunday vs. the Florida Everblades. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a team poster courtesy of the North Carolina Zoo, K104.7 FM and Colonial Properties Trust. To purchase tickets for Sunday's game call 704-342-4-ICE or purchase and print your tickets at www.CharlotteBobcatsArena.com.
