Dayton drops bomb on Chiefs

Johnstown, PA (February 28, 2007) - The Dayton Bombers defeated the Johnstown Chiefs by a score of 4-1 before a sell-out crowd of 4,021 at the Cambria County War Memorial.

Randy Rowe opened the scoring for Johnstown, when his slap shot from outside the red line handcuffed Bombers goaltender Terry Denike and found its' way into the net to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead at 16:28 of the first period.

Dayton would get on the board when Matt Herneisen's centering pass found its way behind Chiefs goaltender Morgan Cey at 4:24 of the second. Tim Konsorada gave Dayton a 2-1 lead at 17:58 of the second, and then Paul Kelly scored shorthanded on a two-on-one break with Herneisen at 19:44.

Dayton would add an insurance goal on the power-play from Brent Walton at 2:18 of the third period.

Johnstown was 0-for-4 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 27 saves on 31 shots while earning the loss.

The Chiefs return home on Sunday to face the Toledo Storm at 3:00 p.m. The first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive a voucher that could win them $500 cash courtesy of 1st Summit Bank!
