Eric Werner and Bryan Schmidt Assigned To Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that defensemen Eric Werner and Bryan Schmidt have been assigned by the Monarchs to the Royals. Werner (5'10"/185 lbs) (24), a second year pro from Gross Pointe Woods, Michigan, has scored four goals and assisted on twenty others in 51 games with the Monarchs this season. Last year, Werner, who played his college hockey at the University of Michigan, played 58 games with the Royals, scoring twelve goals and assisting on thirty others while being selected as the team's Defensive Player of the Year. Werner also racked up five points (3g - 2a) in four games in last year's North Division Semi-Final Playoff series for the Royals. Schmidt (6'3"/209) (25), a first year pro from Bloomington, Minnesota, has scored four goals and assisted on eight others in 42 games with the Monarchs this season. Schmidt, who played his college hockey at Merrimack College, played fifteen games with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, scoring two goals and assisting on two others, after the conclusion of his senior season at Merrimack last year.

The Royals return to action on Friday night (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center against the Johnstown Chiefs, when Athletic Trainer Brian Grogesky will become the third person in team history inducted into the Reading Eagle Wall of Honor. The first 2000 fans that night will receive a Brian Grogesky trading card courtesy of the Reading Eagle. Royals' game night broadcasts can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1240 am (and on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com), beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off. Streaming video is also available for $6.00 per game through the B2 Networks, which can be accessed through the Royals' website.
