The Charlotte Checkers score the game's first three goals and held on for a 3-1 win over the Lynx in Augusta on Saturday night in front of 3,403 fans.

Charlotte opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period at 4:43 on a Jeremy Schreiber goal from Mike Bayrack and Daniel Sparre. Kenton Smith and Bruce Graham tacked on second period markers to move the Checkers ahead 3-0 through 40 minutes of play.

Mike Erickson scored his second goal in as many games to get the Lynx on the board at 11:35 of the third period, tipping a Phil Cole point shot to provide the final 3-1 margin.

Mike Wall stopped 24 shots in the loss for the Lynx, while Jeff Glass made 46 saves to earn the win. Augusta finished 0-for-8 on the power play while Charlotte went 1-for-4.

The Lynx are back in action next week as they take on the Grrrowl in Greenville Friday night, followed by the final regular season game in Gwinnett against the Gladiators. Playoff schedule and single game ticketing information will be announced next week through www.augustalynx.com.
